Sakura is one of the national flowers in Japan. I can’t describe spring in my country without Sakura. I went to see Kawazu sakura (this means along the river) this week. It’s near my home. It was so nice!

Kawazu sakura is the earliest one to bloom, we can see it from the end of February to the middle of March. Compared to the general sakura (somei yoshino), which only lasts one week, we feel that sawazu sakura lasts for a long time. It has pink flowers, a little bit brighter in color than the general one. I saw the blossoms along the riverbank. I could see the reflection of the flower’s pink color in the river. It was so beautiful — it was as though the small river in the countryside was decorated with cherry blossoms.

Someiyoshino is the most well-known sakura. It blooms from the end of March to beginning of April. Many of these trees were planted after world war II; they are around 70 years old. The age is not as old as sakura tree in Japan. ???
All Japanese schools start the new academic year in April. Cherry blossoms mark the beginning of the new year for students throughout Japan as they enter a new grade.
